Ms. Maria Oliver

Assistant Professor

MArch, Columbia University,

Maria Isabel Oliver holds a Masters in Architecture from Columbia University, NY, and has conducted course work towards a Ph.D. at Harvard University. Her architecture work has fluctuated between Puerto Rico and New York. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the American University of Sharjah, where she teaches Design Studio, Modern History and Urban Form, and drawing. As a liaison between the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA), and the academy, Oliver participates actively and critically on debates regarding modern architecture discourses in non-western contexts. For these, she has received multiple grants and has been editor of several architecture journals.
