World Internet Project Meeting 2012 (June 2012)
World Internet Project Meeting 2012, hosted by the Emirates Internet Project, Department of Mass Communication, College of Arts and Science, American University of Sharjah
This will be the 13nth annual meeting of the World Internet Project. Members of the WIP meet annually to discuss Internet developments in their countries and to share results with other WIP members as well local industry professionals.
The World Internet Project is an international collaborative project that examines the social, political and economic impact of the Internet and other new media technologies. WIP is a global consortium of more than 30 member research institutions that conduct coordinated survey research on the social, political, commercial and cultural effects of Internet usage in the members' countries.
The Emirates Internet Project (EIP) is the Emirati member partner of WIP. The EIP is a longitudinal survey project that studies the social integration of the Internet in the UAE and, more specifically, the changing habits on a variety of levels, including personal and professional, in UAE society at large due to Internet adoption.
Along with attending the conference, the participating members will have the opportunity to enjoy a number of cultural events and to visit and explore notable Islamic and historical sites in the region.
