"Into the Unknown: The James Webb Space Telescope" (October 2016)
Into the Unknown tells thestory of the building of NASA's James Webb Space Telescope - a revolutionaryobservatory 100 times more powerful and the scientific successor to the HubbleTelescope. Launching in late 2018, the Webb Telescope will reveal auniverse we have never seen before and is poised to answer questions that haveintrigued us for thousands of years, e.g.: How did the universe begin? Wheredid we come from? Are we alone?
Into the Unknown offers anin-depth look at one of the most daring scientific missions ever attempted. The film contains stunning visuals showing the telescope'sconstruction, as well as fascinating conversations with scientists andengineers who were involved with the project . The Northrop GrummanFoundation, in partnership with filmmaker Nathaniel Kahn, developed thisdocumentary as a resource for teachers, students and space enthusiasts aroundthe world.
A Q&A session about the film will follow withthe following panelists:
