Lie Algebra Configuration Pairing (March 2017)
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the College of Arts and Sciences invites you to attend a seminar by Dr. Benjamin Walter from Middle East Technical University, Northern Cyprus.
Abstract:Beginning with a slightly modernized version of classical ideas, I will slowly construct a new method for computing in Lie algebras using invariants. Though the subject matter and concepts are very simple, a surprisingly rich structure of Lie coalgebras is uncovered. Organization and concepts are very reminiscent of the theory of knots and knot invariants (which is the secret inspiration for this point of view); though no knot theory knowledge is required to appreciate or understand this work.
