AUS professor one of eight IEEE distinguished lecturers in the world

Dr. Ghaleb A. Husseini, Professor of Chemical Engineering at American University of Sharjah (AUS), was recently elected as a Distinguished Lecturer for the Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE-EMBS). He is one of eight distinguished lecturers chosen to serve for a two-year term.

EMBS is the world's largest international society for biomedical engineers, with over 9,000 members from 97 countries. Other selected lecturers include professors from Harvard, Georgia Institute of Technology and the National Cancer Institute.

According to Dr. Husseini, "The role of Distinguished Lecturers is to keep IEEE-EMBS members on the cutting edge of trends and developments in biomedical engineering. This is a good opportunity to showcase some of the research being conducted at AUS in biomedical engineering, especially given that this area is in its exponential growth phase."

Dr. Husseini recently established an ultrasound drug delivery lab at AUS and he works in the areas of ultrasound activated drug delivery, desalination, surface chemistry and engineering education. During his tenure as a Distinguished Lecturer, Dr. Husseini will be invited by the EMBS to present his research findings on ultrasound actuated drug delivery.
