AUS students explore Sharjah Center for Astronomy and Space Sciences
Students from American University of Sharjah visited the Sharjah Center for Astronomy and Space Sciences on February 23, 2016. The visit, organized by the Student Multicultural Learning Program, had 25 students tour the exhibitions, guided by a space scientist. The new and advanced building brought a creative method to learning about space and astronomy.
The center features space labs, a cosmic park and an observatory. The focal attraction was the planetarium, which shows informative short movies on space and astronomy.
Nada Mourad, a senior in finance said, "When I was a child, outer space was always one of my favorite topics to learn about in school. The trip to Sharjah Center for Astronomy and Space Sciences was fascinating and helped me imagine how things are out there in the universe. My favorite part of the trip was the documentaries we watched in the planetarium. The visual effects, narration and music used made me feel as if we were floating in outer space."
Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Dean of Students said, "There is a tremendous achievement which Sharjah Center for Astronomy and Space Sciences represents in terms of the productive and imaginative mind as well as the cultural, national, religious and humanitarian sentiment, which are greater than any presentation can describe to our students. I recommend that all scholars visit this center to experience the great cultural development."
