Chancellor honors recipients of the Houston Technology Center Innovation Award and the Sheikh Khalifa Scholarship
American University of Sharjah (AUS) students who were awarded the Houston Technology Center Innovation Award and the Sheikh Khalifa Scholarship 2015-16 were invited to lunch with AUS Chancellor Dr. Björn Kjerfve in his office at noon today, April 26, 2016.
"Through this gathering, I would like to recognize and celebrate the achievements of some of our most distinguished students. It is a great honor for our students to be awarded the Sheikh Khalifa Scholarship and to win the Houston Technology Center Innovation Award, and I am extremely proud of our students on their remarkable achievements," said Dr. Kjerfve.
The winning students of the Houston Technology Center Innovation Award are Taak Abou Shahada, Kazim Ali and Nouran Maatouk from the MBA program and engineering graduate students Rashad Al Araj and Hasan Mahmoud. The graduate students won the award at the mai Bangkok Business Challenge held earlier in Bangkok, Thailand. The AUS team is the first team in the UAE to make it to the finals of this prestigious competition.
The winners of the Sheikh Khalifa Scholarship 2015-16 were Husain Rangwalla, School of Business Administration; Sakeena Khatri, College of Arts and Sciences; Nouran El Messalami, College of Engineering; and Reema Abu Hassan, College of Architecture, Art and Design. The four students were selected based on their excellent academic standing and participation in extracurricular activities. The latter includes taking part in cultural events and student clubs, international competitions, student organizations and volunteer work.
