Debate Club wins BITS Debate Championship
American University of Sharjah (AUS) debate team members Mamour Ahmad, Tuqa Khalid and Sabira Manji brought home a victory from the Parliamentary Debate Competition hosted recently by BITS Pilani University in Dubai.
This prize comes after a remarkable win of three trophies in the recently held First Intercollegiate Debate Championship of the American University in Dubai.
The BITS Pilani competition brought in eight universities across the country to engage in a parliamentary style debate with two preliminary rounds. Among the universities participating in the championship were American University in Dubai, Preston University, Canadian University of Dubai and Middlesex University, which AUS Debate Club had a dynamic final against. The debate was judged by professional judges from the organization Toastmasters.
As AUS emerged victorious, team member Mamour Ahmad said, "We thank the AUS Debate Club and AUS for bringing us opportunities to exceed expectations and represent our university in the academia of UAE".
