Sixth Workshop on Mathematical Analysis and Applications (November 2025)
This one-day event brings together renowned faculty members from various UAE universities and our faculty at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. We aim to foster significant discussions on the latest advancements in the fields of analysis and partial differential equations. Beyond academic discourse, this event also presents a prime opportunity for networking and promoting inter-university collaborations. Our discussions will be further enhanced by the insights of Professor Mihai Mihailescu from the University of Craiova (Romania), a well-known international expert in the field, who will be visiting AUS during the event.
About the speaker
Dr. Mihai Mihăilescu is a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Craiova, Romania, whose research lies at the intersection of nonlinear partial differential equations, functional inequalities and the calculus of variations. He is also a scientific researcher and fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics and Applied Mathematics of the Romanian Academy. He earned dual PhD degrees in Mathematics (University of Craiova, 2007) and Applied Mathematics (Central European University, 2010), and completed postdoctoral work at the University of Sydney. A recipient of the prestigious Simion Stolow Prize of the Romanian Academy, Dr. Mihăilescu has published extensively in leading journals. His contributions have advanced the theory of variable exponent and Orlicz–Sobolev spaces, with significant applications to nonlinear eigenvalue problems and nonstandard growth operators. He has led and participated in numerous national research projects, organized international workshops on analysis and PDEs, and served on several editorial boards.
