Welcome to the Performing Arts Program at AUS

Our dynamic, comprehensive and diverse curriculum invites students to explore and create within our music and theatre minor offerings. Students searching for general education classes at AUS can also find engaging, exciting theatre and music courses in our program. Whether you’re passionate about performance, design or production, this program is curated for curious, motivated students who want to think creatively and experience the arts from multiple perspectives.

Students explore the application of performing arts within new cultural contexts, studying Western, Arabic and global trends in the arts. From performing on stage to working behind the scenes in set construction, costume design or stage management, you’ll gain hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the artistic process.

Our 12-credit minors pair perfectly with any major in AUS’ liberal arts environment, allowing you to enrich your academic journey while developing your artistic voice. Course offerings include piano, voice, percussion, Arabic music, acting, dance, design, technical theatre, playwriting and more.

If you’re ready to express yourself, collaborate and explore who you are as an artist, the Performing Arts Program at AUS is for you!

Why choose the Performing Arts Program?

The Performing Arts Program offers students a unique opportunity to delve into the fields of music and theater. By choosing to pursue a minor in theatre or music, students get an in-depth understanding of the fields through theoretical study, and showcase their talent by taking part in concert performances and theatrical productions. They also gain valuable hands-on experience by participating in the technical and backstage components of music and theatre productions.

The program also offers exciting introductory courses for students who have an appreciation for music and theatre, but choose to pursue their studies in different areas, such as business, architecture, humanities and social sciences. We provide theatre courses on dramatic expression and the history of drama and dramaturgy, as well as music courses on aural and sight-singing skills, choral ensemble, classical musicology and world music. Our presentation and performance courses foster creativity and promote participation, inclusiveness, diversity and understanding in an increasingly interdependent world.

Some of our students are aspiring actors, musicians and singers, while others are interested in the history and development of music and theatre as a field of study.

Our esteemed faculty members not only carry out original research in their specialties but also have extensive experience as performers in the fields of music and theatre.

We invite you to become part of our vibrant and creative world.
