The Eighth International
Conference on Materials Science and Engineering February 2-3,
2016, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates
The Eighth
International Conference on Materials Science and Engineering will bring together
engineering material scientists, engineers and technologists to exchange ideas,
discuss the latest developments in materials and present their work to the
international materials community. The conference encourages
scientific research focused on materials properties and applications taking
into consideration the severe environment in the region.
The
conference, organized by the
College of Engineering, will cover many aspects of traditional and high
performance materials; their properties, behavior, production and quality
control. The basic themes of the conference include but are not restricted to:
Corrosion (cracking, oxidization, etc.) Mechanical Behavior and fracture Sustainable materials Micro / Nano materials Ceramics High performance materials Functional graded materials Construction/Structural materials Insulation materials New energy materials Effects of harsh environment on materials Polymers and composites. Thermal behavior of materials Smart/Intelligent materials/Intelligent systems Nondestructive testing and evaluation Repair and retrofitting Asphaltic materials Glass performance Computational methods Recycling material Ferroics and multiferroics Magnetic materials Low-dimensional systems Multifunctional nanomaterials |

Tutorials and Exhibitions
The conference constitutes an excellent
opportunity for participants to hear from experts about the latest developments
in water and environmental technology and to get practitioners' view of
innovative practices in some of the leading organizations. Companies and
individuals are welcome to submit proposal for tutorials (short courses) and
exhibitions to be held in conjunction with IMS/8.
Please send your proposal by
email to [email protected].
The committee will also provide facilities for
exhibitors during the conference. For more information, please email
[email protected].
Submitting Abstracts
All abstracts must be submitted via the conference website (www.aus.edu/IMS8). Mailed, emailed or faxed abstracts will not be accepted. Presenters are solely responsible for submission and subsequent receipt of their abstracts. All abstracts must be received by November 30, 2015.
For accepted abstracts, at least one author must register for the conference in order for the paper to be published in the conference program and proceedings.
Posters
We encourage our colleagues to limit their submission to their best poster abstract. No more than two total abstracts per author will be allowed (one poster and one paper.)
Papers
All submissions must be in Microsoft Word format. Each submission should include a separate title page listing the following: title of paper, author(s), organization affiliation(s), complete mailing address, email address and keywords (three to four keywords). All abstracts will be reviewed by members of the technical committee.
Selected manuscripts may be published in a special issue of selected journals after the normal peer-review process.
Accommodation
Venue
The Eighth International Conference on
Materials Science and Engineering will be held at the campus of American
University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
American
University of Sharjah (AUS) was founded in 1997 by His Highness Sheikh Dr.
Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the UAE and
Ruler of Sharjah, who envisioned the university as a leading educational
institution in the Gulf region. AUS is an independent, non-profit coeducational
institution. AUS is a leading comprehensive coeducational university in the
Gulf, serving students from the region and around the world.
Sharjah
is a city of learning and the arts, as confirmed by it being named the 2014
Capital of Islamic Culture for the Arab Region and the 1998 UNESCO Cultural
Capital of the Arab World. This context facilitates the university's intention
to be an academic center at the intersection of ancient cultural traditions and
contemporary intellectual currents. The city of Sharjah is home to more than 20
museums with splendid collections of artifacts and art as well as exhibits on
science and natural history. Sharjah also hosts many cultural festivals,
educational conferences, fairs and economic expositions. These resources permit
the university to broaden students' formal education in a way not possible
elsewhere in the region.
American
University of Sharjah is located about 20 minutes' drive from downtown Sharjah
and Dubai. For the AUS map and directions, please click here.
