Performing Arts Program
Job Title: Professor of Practice (Open Rank) Performing Arts Management / Production Manager
American University of Sharjah invites applications for a Professor of Practice (Open Rank) position in Performing Arts Management/Production Management to begin in Fall 2026. This faculty member will join a small but growing Performing Arts Program. Three or more years teaching in a university setting is preferred. We seek candidates who demonstrate leadership, personnel management, strong written and verbal communication, and creative problem-solving.
Responsibilities: Serve as Production Manager for all program music and theatre events, train undergraduate stage managers, teach undergraduate courses in theatre or music, and serve on committees as requested. Other program duties may be assigned. As Production Manager, responsibilities include budgeting, creating and managing production timelines (scheduling and run-of-show planning), supervising and coordinating personnel (student crews and staff), and maintaining efficient workflows for the productions.
We are especially interested in candidates who are dedicated to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts environment, committed to working with ethnically and culturally diverse faculty and students from across the globe, and who will thrive in a small, ambitious collegiate setting. A terminal degree in theatre or music is required (PhD/DMA or MFA); preference given to those who hold at least one degree from a North American university.
The deadline for applications is January 1, 2026. Please send one collated PDF document containing a cover letter (briefly mapping your experience to the responsibilities noted above), a CV that includes a detailed list of responsibilities for each Production Management position listed, and contact information for three references to: https://acg-apps1.aus.edu/cas/empapp/apply.php?p=PAP-26-01.
