Position Summary
The Research Systems Manager is responsible for developing and implementing research administration systems in support of research services.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and implement policies on research system transaction activities.
- Conceptualize, plan, draft, edit, and present clear, concise, relevant and accurate analytic products and presentations in a timely manner.
- Provide technical support to research administration systems function, including development of custom and automated reporting functions.
- Provide data management expertise, and work towards automation of standard processes.
- Train faculty and staff on research administration system related tasks.
- Program and develop custom reports, workflow forms, configure electronic routing and approval.
- Coordinate and support research systems integration and development as required.
- Adhere to the University's information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly
- Coordinate with other departments to facilitate the accomplishment of tasks and responsibilities, as and when needed
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Minimum of seven years of relevant experience.
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration or related fields.
Skills & Competencies:
- Ability to work closely with researchers, faculty, and IT teams to align systems with academic and scientific needs.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills to oversee system deployments, upgrades, and integrations with minimal disruption.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues in research software, databases, and cloud services.
- Experience in training researchers on system usage and best practices.
- Efficiently liaising with software providers, IT teams, and academic departments to ensure seamless research support.
Technical Skills:
- Expertise with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Expertise with research management tools and ERP systems, including Pre-Award system, Oracle and Pure.
- Collaborate with researchers to deploy and customize software for domain-specific needs.
- Audit system permissions and conduct vulnerability assessments to mitigate risks.
