Director’s Message

Welcome to the Faculty Development Center (FDC) at American University of Sharjah.

Our main goal is to create a welcoming environment that promotes academic excellence in teaching and learning by providing the support needed for all faculty, at all stages of their professional career, across the university.

This year, as our faculty have been busy transitioning to virtual education in response to COVID-19, our priorities will continue to support innovative, evidence-driven pedagogical approaches to teaching and learning in the online environment. We believe that now more than ever, embracing and celebrating ties that connect our community is profoundly important. At the heart of the FDC is its relationship with faculty. Therefore, the FDC is here to support and inspire faculty with continual improvement of their excellence.

We are looking forward to the upcoming year, working with Faculty Fellows, a new program that brings faculty from all the four schools/colleges to work with the Director of the FDC to promote the continuous improvement of teaching and learning within their individual schools/colleges.

The FDC is proud to play a central role in pedagogical and technological advancement and to connect with our community to enrich the teaching and learning experiences for both the faculty and students.
