The goal of the Achievement Academy Bridge Program at American University of Sharjah is to help new AUS students improve their English language skills and prepare for university success, while enjoying everything AUS student life has to offer.

Since Fall 2014, the Achievement Academy has matriculated more than 600 students.

Students who matriculate from the Achievement Academy do not have to take the English Placement Test and are eligible to register for the WRI 101 course. Over the past 5 years, our students have gone on to achieve an average success rate of 93.1 percent in their WRI 101 courses.

When they begin their undergraduate program, not only do many students from the Achievement Academy Bridge Program (AABP) achieve success in their studies, but they also excel in the extracurricular roles they take on.

Some notable achievements of former AABP students within the AUS community and beyond:

  • Abdulraman Al Janaahi, President of the AUS Student Council, elected May 2019 and served until May 2020
  • Abdulla Al Janaahi, President of the AUS Chapter of the American Chemistry Society, elected May 2019 and served until May 2020
  • Ahmed Ibrahim, Executive of the AUS Alumni Association, elected June 2020, and recipient of Active Student Scholarship Award from the Office of Student Affairs in 2017 and 2018
  • Dr. Ghanim Kashwani (PhD in Engineering), currently teaching at New York University, Abu Dhabi
  • Essam Murawi, recipient of the Chancellor’s Cup, Captain of the AUS Football Team, and Vice President of the Student Council
  • Jing Wei Ma, AABP Fall 2017, research assistant to the Chief Research Officer and exchange student to the USA through the AUS International Exchange Office (IXO)
  • Haya al-Mansoori, AABP Fall 2017, Green Ticket Recipient at the UN Climate Action Summit (with Greta Thunberg) New York, September 2019
  • Muhammad Sharhan, newly elected President of the AUS Alumni Association and recipient of the Chancellor’s Cup
  • Saeed Suhail AlAmeri, IXO exchange student for two semesters in the USA
