The Department of Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Sciences at the College of Arts and Sciences is seeking to hire a professional Laboratory Instructor in Environment Chemistry. The position involves teaching laboratory-based courses such as General Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry and Analysis, Environmental Impact Assessment and Monitoring and Instrumental Analysis. The university seeks candidates dedicated to excellent teaching, active research, and strong student engagement within an American-accredited liberal arts environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Teach laboratory-based courses such as General Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry and Analysis, Environmental Impact Assessment and Monitoring, and Instrumental Analysis.
- Prepare and implement laboratory activities and assessments that promote effective hands-on learning.
- Maintain a safe learning environment by monitoring student practices, enforcing safety rules, and ensuring proper use of laboratory equipment and materials.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- A master’s degree in environmental chemistry or a closely related field.
- Experience in teaching laboratory-based courses in Environmental Chemistry and related fields.
- Experience in the use of major laboratory instruments as well as field sampling and monitoring.
- Strong instructional and communication skills for effective laboratory teaching.
- Commitment to student engagement and support in a liberal arts Environment.
- Proficiency in conducting and supervising chemistry and environmental Chemistry Laboratory Procedures and experiments.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and proper handling of chemicals and equipment.
- Experience with analytical instruments used in chemistry and environmental analysis.
