Position Summary
The Physics Department at the American University of Sharjah (AUS) is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support the daily operations of its teaching and research laboratories.
Job Responsibilities
- Setting up the labs.
- Performing routine maintenance on instruments.
- Ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
- Managing inventory.
- Maintaining lab instruments in good working conditions.
- Organizing storerooms.
- Assisting students and lab instructors during experiments
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree in physics, science, engineering, information technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years’ work experience in the same setting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently and effectively.
- Proactive and responsive in addressing queries and technical concerns.
- Collaborative and supportive team player.
- Reliable, organized, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to safety, accuracy, and quality.
- Flexible and willing to work varied hours as required.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and digital tools used in laboratory settings.
- Hands-on experience with setting up and troubleshooting general laboratory equipment.
- Ability to perform routine maintenance and ensure equipment is in proper working condition.
- Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols.
