The Staff Nurse leads the delivery of comprehensive clinical care and health services, collaborating with the medical team to align patient care with university health standards. This role oversees clinical workflows, patient assessments, and wellness initiatives to deliver high-quality, inclusive healthcare experiences that enhance the well-being of the AUS community and reflect the university’s commitment to excellence in health care.
Job Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Support
- Assess, triage, and treat patients with acute or chronic conditions, administer medications, vaccines, prescribed treatments, provide wound care as directed by the doctors. Perform diagnostic tests, and monitor vital signs while assisting physicians in clinical procedures.
Emergency & Urgent Care
- Provide 24-hour on-call response to campus emergencies. Respond to medical crises, stabilize patients, manage minor injuries or illnesses with first aid, and coordinate ambulance transfers to external facilities when required.
Health Promotion & Education
- Educate students on preventive care, nutrition, and health awareness. Provide specialized guidance on managing chronic conditions (asthma, diabetes, allergies) and deliver health-related education as requested by faculty or other departments.
Coordination & Referrals
- Collaborate with campus mental health services (UCS) and external healthcare providers to ensure holistic care. Facilitate and manage referrals to specialists, hospitals, or urgent care facilities as required.
Administrative & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, confidential patient records using the EMR system. Prepare daily and monthly statistical reports to track clinic activity and ensure all data meets university standards.
Quality & Safety Oversight
- Support UHS policies regarding infection control, medical waste management, and quality improvement. Ensure clinical practices align with university-wide wellness initiatives and safety measures.
Operational Outreach
- Attend activities hosted by other university departments as requested to provide on-site medical care and support high-profile campus events.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) License.
- ACLS Certification.
- Minimum of four years’ relevant experience in outpatient and emergency department settings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English is essential. Arabic skills are an advantage.
- Able to work under pressure and is a good team player.
- Proficiency in MS Office and EMR System.
- UAE Driving License.
