Regular or Visiting Faculty (2026) | Electrical Engineering
The Department of Electrical Engineering (ELE) in the College of Engineering at the American University of Sharjah (AUS) invites applications for a Regular faculty position or Visiting faculty position at the assistant, associate, or full professor level, commencing in Fall 2026. The visiting faculty positions are primarily focused on teaching. Successful candidates for the regular positions will be expected to establish high-level, active research programs supported by internal and external funding sources. The visiting position is a one-year renewable contract, and the regular position is a three-year renewable contract.
Applicants with strong research profiles in physical AI, machine learning, computer vision, and sensor fusion, with applications to intelligent Cyber-physical Systems, are encouraged to apply.
The applicant is required to have a PhD in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field and should be able to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Excellence in teaching and research, in addition to experience in the American model of higher education, are highly desirable.

The Department of Electrical Engineering has approximately 265 undergraduate students, 44 graduate students, 16 full-time faculty, and 4 lab instructors. Faculty and students represent very diverse backgrounds and nationalities; approximately 90 nationalities are present on campus. The department offers a Bachelor of Science in Intelligent Systems and Mechatronics Engineering, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, and a joint PhD program in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
AUS is located in the Emirate of Sharjah (about 15 km from Dubai). AUS is an independent, not-for-profit, coeducational university, serving approximately 5,000 students.
