PhD in Mechanical Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana‐Champaign, USAPrior to joining AUS, Wael Abuzaid was as a research engineer at Intel Corporation working on the development of the next generation of processors. His personal interests and research experience are in the field of experimental solid mechanics. In his research, he uses novel and unique experimental and analysis techniques to study material deformation and damage localization at the microstructural level. His current research is focused on improving our quantitative understanding of fatigue crack initiation in high temperature superalloys. He is also a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the Society for Experimental Mechanics (SEM).
