AUS hosts statistical software workshop
The School of Business and Management (SBM) at American University of Sharjah (AUS) hosted the First Middle East Stata Workshop yesterday, March 9. Stata is a powerful statistical software used by statisticians and econometricians from the academic and commercial sectors. The workshop introduced Stata and its main facilities to current students enrolled at AUS and other universities in the UAE.
The workshop also benefitted current Stata users who had the opportunity to network with other statisticians from around the world and the Middle East region. All attendees were given copies of A Short Introduction to Stata for Biostatistics by Michael Hills and Bianca L. De Stavola.
According to Dr. George Naufal, Assistant Professor in Economics and presenter at the workshop, "This event is for students, reflecting the role of AUS in providing opportunities for students to further enhance their knowledge and better prepare them for the real world."
The event at AUS was organized by Timberlake Consultants, the official distributor of Stata Software in the Middle East and North Africa region.
"Stata workshops provide a very clear platform to demonstrate the capabilities, power and ease of use of Stata statistical software to both new and more advanced users," said David Corbett, Director, Timberlake Consultants. "We are very pleased that the inaugural workshop for the Middle East was held at American University of Sharjah."
