Joe Colistra, AIA, RIBA, is an architect, academic leader, and researcher with over 25 years of higher-education experience. Before joining AUS as Dean of the College of Architecture, Art and Design, he served as Professor of Architecture and Director of the Institute for Smart Cities at the University of Kansas, leading interdisciplinary research and global partnerships connecting design, technology, health, and urban innovation. His work spans smart cities, housing, and Gulf vernacular traditions, and he has long championed inclusive learning, student success, and community-engaged design.
