Hatem Mohamed Al Mosa
His Excellency Hatem Mohamed Al Mosa is Director General of the Petroleum Department in the Emirate of Sharjah and Secretary General of the Sharjah Energy Council. He also serves as Advisor to His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmad Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC).
He began his career with Amoco Sharjah Oil Company as a Plant Engineer in 1986 and subsequently held management roles in engineering, operations and integrity management at Amoco, BP and Crescent Petroleum.
He joined SNOC when it was established in 2010, first serving as Technical Control Manager and later as Operations Manager. In November 2015, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of SNOC and Secretary General of the Sharjah Petroleum Council, now the Petroleum Department in the Emirate of Sharjah, by Amiri Decree. In October 2024, he was appointed Secretary General of the Sharjah Energy Council by Amiri Decree, with responsibility for overseeing the strategic planning and development of the emirate’s energy sector. After serving as CEO of SNOC for a decade, he was appointed Advisor to His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmad Al Qasimi in April 2025.
Under his leadership, SNOC achieved two gas discoveries in Sharjah, the emirate’s first in 37 years. The company also launched a liquefied petroleum gas business, initiated a strategic gas storage project and constructed Sharjah’s largest solar power plant. SNOC has since become the principal gas supplier to the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) and a research partner with two of Sharjah’s largest universities.
His Excellency Al Mosa holds a Bachelor of Science with honors in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a master’s degree in chemical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
