Coach - Wellness Services | Employee Services Directorate
Coach Wellness supports AUS’s commitment to a healthy, inclusive, and engaged university community. The role focuses on increasing participation among faculty and staff throughout the academic year by delivering group fitness classes, individual wellness coaching, tailored health programs, and inclusive wellness initiatives. The Coach - Wellness will also oversee the safe, welcoming, and efficient operation of the Wellness Center during the evening shift.
Job Responsibilities
Fitness and Wellness Program Delivery
- Design and instruct safe, inclusive group fitness classes suitable for all skill levels, providing modifications as needed.
- Deliver personalized wellness coaching, exercise guidance, and evidence-based health education covering topics like stress management, recovery, and work-life balance.
- Demonstrate correct form and equipment usage while monitoring participant safety and progress.
- Maintain complete program records, including attendance logs, coaching notes, schedules, and reporting metrics.
Faculty and Staff Engagement
- Implement an academic-year engagement strategy featuring targeted workshops, health campaigns, and university-wide wellness initiatives.
- Drive outreach across departments and university units, utilizing digital channels, presentations, and print media to boost participation.
- Identify engagement barriers to recommend accessible, culturally responsive programming.
- Gather participant feedback and partner with campus stakeholders to evaluate and continuously improve offerings.
Facility Operations & Evening Supervision
- Oversee all Wellness Center operations, member services, and safety protocols during the evening shift.
- Perform opening/closing procedures, routine facility walk-throughs, and equipment maintenance reporting.
- Serve as first point of contact for service inquiries, incident management, first aid emergencies, and conflict resolution.
- Maintain detailed shift logs, process incident reports, and liaise with security, facilities, and emergency services as needed.
Qualifications and Skills Required
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field.
Minimum 2 years of experience delivering group classes, individual wellness coaching, and facility oversight within higher education, or recreation settings.
