Hugo Toledo's research interests are in the areas of financial economics, international trade, and labor markets, especially in GCC countries. He has presented his research findings at international conferences in Australia, EU countries, North America, and South East countries. His research has been published in journals such as Applied Economics, Review of Development Economics, the International Trade Journal, and the International Review of Economics and Finance, and the North American Journal of Economics and Finance.
