When I joined AUS I had the ambition of becoming an electrical engineer. However, I lacked the proper knowledge and understanding required in order to become one. The Department of Electrical Engineering at AUS was able to bridge this gap for me by providing me with opportunities that enabled me to learn new skills and test them both theoretically and practically. My biggest achievement to date is winning the National Robotics for Good UAE Award in 2017 and a lot of its credit goes to the AUS Department of Electrical Engineering for providing me with the best platform possible.

I joined AUS because it offers a fully funded master's program with a specialization in power electronics, drives and control systems which is my area of interest. The labs at AUS are equipped with the latest equipment to promote research and development in this field. The teaching and research facilities at AUS are fully equipped with the state-of-the-art equipment and the environment at AUS motivates high-quality research. The hands-on experience gained from the application of theoretical concepts in the lab has prepared me for a PhD degree in electrical engineering, and for a career in research and development in the field of power electronics, drives and control systems. After working as a graduate teaching assistant during the course of my master's degree and as a research assistant in the Electric Drives and Power Systems Lab, I highly recommend AUS for graduate studies.

I was introduced to American University of Sharjah (AUS) by my advisor. I did some research about the university and came to know about exceptional research opportunities and highly qualified faculty at the university, which motivated me to join AUS for graduate studies. The best thing about AUS is the multicultural scientific learning environment, where people come from different technical and cultural backgrounds and work together as one team to solve fascinating research problems. The problem-solving skills and technical knowledge gained from AUS is helping me continue my research and explore more areas of my discipline.

Since high school, electrical systems have always fascinated me. I used to disassemble electrical appliances at my home, just to see the working and design. I have always been eager to know how electrical engineering forms the fundamental basis for development in modern technology. Power systems and circuit design are the fields that capture my interest the most. A major part of learning takes place in labs and research work. The labs here at AUS are well-equipped, and have enabled me to be a part of several projects, working alongside other students and professors. In my time here at AUS, I have learnt how to think critically when faced with problems concerning my projects. I believe that all this knowledge has helped me succeed as an engineer.
“Graduating as an electrical engineer from AUS has made my life goals clearer as it helped identify which research field and work interested me the most. It has helped me develop my practical skills, enabled me to come up with more innovative designs and develop solutions to a variety of problems. Studying at AUS has given me the chance to meet people from different parts of the world, due to its multicultural and diverse environment. This has given me a global experience and enhanced my learning environment overall.
