CEN Silver Jubilee Competitions
In celebration of American University of Sharjah’s (AUS) Silver Jubilee, the College of Engineering (CEN) is hosting three multimedia competitions.
The competitions are open to all students, alumni and employees with monetary prizes awarded to the winners.

CEN Through My Eyes: A Photography Competition
About the competition
A photography competition celebrating 25 years of the College of Engineering. Demonstrate your talent and creativity by choosing one of two themes for a chance to win.
The competition is open to all AUS community members, including students, alumni and employees
Categories
The photo can be based on one of the following themes:
- CEN Architecture: The buildings of the College of Engineering demonstrate a beautiful harmony between classic Islamic architecture, and sleek modern aesthetics. Creatively highlight the architecture of the College of Engineering.
- A Day in CEN: Technology, knowledge, hard work, fun, events, and most importantly, school spirit, are all part of daily life in CEN. Take a photograph that captures a moment and tells a story about life in CEN.
Prizes
- First place: 2,000 AED
- Second place: 1,500 AED
- Third place: 1,000 AED
- People’s choice: 500 AED
Selected submissions will be showcased in CEN’s Jubilee Photography and Art Exhibition Night and in CEN buildings.
Evaluation Criteria
Photographs will be evaluated based on creativity, technique (high-quality imagery), aesthetics and relevance to the theme. The people’s choice winner will be selected based on social media interactions.

CEN Through My Eyes: A Short Film Competition
About the competition
A perspective on the history and present of the College of Engineering, this competition invites you to choose one of two categories as a theme for your short film.
The competition is open to all AUS community members, including students, alumni and employees.
Categories
The short film should be based on one of the following themes:
- 25 Years of CEN Through My Eyes: a perspective on the history of the College of Engineering
- Life in CEN Through My Eyes: a perspective on the daily life of a student/employee in the College of Engineering
Prizes
- First place: 2,000 AED
- Second place: 1,500 AED
- Third place: 1,000 AED
- People’s choice: 500 AED
Selected submissions will be featured in CEN’s Jubilee Film Festival Night and showcased in CEN buildings.
Evaluation Criteria
Projects will be evaluated based on the originality of the idea, concept, creativity, technique (high-quality sound and video) and relevance to the theme. The people’s choice winner will be selected based on social media interactions.
We advise participants to conduct research to enrich their project with facts.

Imagine CEN in 2047: Digital Art Competition
About the competition
With a theme inspired by AUS’s Silver Jubilee Celebrations, professional and amateur artists are asked to tap into their imagination and creatively depict their vision of CEN at 50 years old. From CEN’s diverse culture to the seamless mix of classic Islamic architecture and sleek modern interior, found in the college's buildings, to the high-end facilities, artists have a plethora of themes and images to draw inspiration from. The competition is open for all AUS community members, including students, alumni and employees.
