American University of Sharjah is licensed and its programs are accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation of the Ministry of Education's Higher Education Affairs Division in the United Arab Emirates.
In recognition of the outstanding quality of education provided by the College of Engineering, the CAA has extended accreditation clustering privileges to the college. Such privileges allow for all of the college’s undergraduate and graduate degree programs to be reviewed and accredited as a group rather than on separate occasions. Only the most high-quality degree programs in the UAE receive such privileges, as they are awarded to institutions who meet the highest standards of educational excellence.
AUS has been accredited in the United States of America by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (1007 North Orange Street, 4th Floor, MB #166, Wilmington, DE 19801 USA) since June 2004.
The bachelor of science degree programs in chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering and mechanical engineering offered by the College of Engineering are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET http://www.abet.org/. The bachelor of science degree program in computer science offered by the College of Engineering is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET http://www.abet.org/.
ABET is the global accreditor of college and university programs in applied and natural science, computing, engineering and engineering technology. AUS was the first university in the Gulf region and the second outside the United States to receive this accreditation. ABET is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization with ISO 9001:2015 certification. It currently accredits 4,307 programs at 846 colleges and universities in 41 countries and areas.
