Dr Namala Tilakaratna research focuses on social semiotic approaches to national identity and curriculum design using English for Academic Purposes. She is an expert in the field of Systemic Functional Linguistics and is particularly interested in how identities intersect with icons in nationalistic spaces. She has published on national identity, critical thinking pedagogy and CLIL.
