Dr. Abulbasal’s research is grounded in sociology, with a central focus on how systems of gender and racial inequality are produced, reproduced, and contested across both digital and organizational domains. One line of her work examines how women—particularly women of color—navigate exclusion, power, and representation in professional and institutional settings. A second line explores how digital infrastructures shape visibility, access, and inequality, especially in contexts of marginalization and resistance. Dr. Rana Abulbasal is a sociologist whose research examines how structural inequalities—particularly those related to gender and race—are embedded in both digital technologies and institutional settings. Her work bridges key areas within the discipline, including digital sociology, the sociology of gender and race, and the sociology of work and organizations. She focuses on how women, especially women of color, navigate power and exclusion across professional and technological domains. Her research is informed by intersectional theory, qualitative methods, and a sociological commitment to linking individual experience to broader systems of inequality.
