Research areas

My current research projects include using GeoAI for: a) urban flood mapping and resilience assessments, b) mangrove restoration assessments, and c) developing data-driven approaches to support nature-based solutions.

Xin Hong is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Sciences at the American University of Sharjah. Her research focuses on applications of GIS, remote sensing and GeoAI for environmental studies. Her current projects are related to using spatial big data and deep learning approaches to understand environmental change and urban sustainability.
