The Economics Seminar Series of the Department of Economics at American University of Sharjah strives to enhance the learning and research environment for faculty and students alike by providing a platform to prominent scholars from within the department as well as outside to present findings of their cutting-edge research on topics of interest to academia and policy makers.
Through our seminar series, we also aim at establishing relationships with colleagues from around the world for possible joint projects and exchange of ideas and faculty.
All economics and interdisciplinary topics thereof are potential subject matters for the series. Our guests, in the past, hailed from prestigious universities and research institutes such as the Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank, New York University, New York University Abu Dhabi, Deakin University, Sultan Qaboos University, Dubai School of Government, Zayed University, American University of Beirut, Princeton University, Brandeis University, University of London, and University of Dubai.
The seminars are free and open to public with no prior registration.

Speaker Criteria
Academic rank is not a constraint to present in our series. We will consider exceptional non-PhDs under some circumstances on a case-by-case basis. Representatives of the relevant governments who wish to share their research with our audience are also welcome to join our series.
Although we have a set schedule and time every semester depending on our faculty members' availability, we are willing to arrange the time and date of presentations with presenters to accommodate their special circumstances. Usually, guests from outside our department are given that flexibility. Our guests from outside of AUS will be requested to allow time to interact with faculty members over lunch or dinner. We are also open to day-long or other type of short visits.
We certainly hope that you will take part in any of these activities to enrich our research environment. We also appreciate receiving the names and contact information of other colleagues to be invited to participate in our series.
Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions or suggestions.
