AUS and Providence English Private School sign MoU

American University of Sharjah (AUS) and Providence English Private School signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) recently as part of the AUS Sharakah program. One of the university’s community engagement initiatives, the successful Sharakah program fosters partnerships between AUS and select schools from around the country.

Professor Kevin Mitchell, AUS Chancellor, and Marwa Dia, Principal and CEO of Providence English Private School, attended the virtual ceremony along with other senior officials from both institutions.

The agreement aims to enhance collaboration between the two institutions through the recruitment of outstanding students from varied socio-cultural and economic backgrounds to AUS. According to the MoU, AUS will provide partial scholarships to deserving students nominated by the school and offer support for research, cultural, social and sports events organized by the school. The school students will also have the opportunity to actively participate in the annually planned university events, and cultural and extracurricular activities.

Speaking about the importance of this agreement, Professor Mitchell said:

“We are pleased to welcome the Providence English Private School to the AUS Sharakah program. The transition from high school to university can often prove challenging for students and engagement through the Sharakah program allows us to work with our colleagues in secondary education to facilitate the adjustment to university life. Our aim is to work collaboratively with program partners to advance our respective educational missions and to learn from each other.”

Dia noted that the objectives of the two institutions were aligned, with students being the focus of attention. She said: “Our school focuses on quality education and student wellbeing. We aim to educate global citizens who will focus on local and international matters, and our partnership brings students closer to success. Our main priority is to provide the best education, care and facilities to our students to realize their potential and expand their knowledge and skills.”
