AUS and Ras Al Khaimah American Academy sign MoU as part of Sharakah program
American University of Sharjah (AUS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ras Al Khaimah American Academy (RAKAA) for Girls to facilitate collaboration and cooperation between the two educational institutions in areas of mutual interest. The signing ceremony took place yesterday, February 18, on the AUS campus.
The MoU was signed by Ali Shuhaimy, Executive Director of Enrollment Management at AUS, and Agnes Shaw, Principal of RAKAA, on behalf of their respective institutions. The agreement is part of the Sharakah program, a strategic initiative of the AUS Office of Enrollment Management with selected schools from across the United Arab Emirates. The program serves as an important tool to help the university engage with educational institutions at the local as well as national level.
The MoU highlights AUS’s role in the recruitment of outstanding students from varied socio-cultural and economic backgrounds and providing partial scholarships to deserving students nominated by the school. AUS will also offer patronage of selected research, cultural, social, and sporting events organized by RAKAA, in addition to organizing workshops for the school’s faculty and staff. AUS will also make SAT, TOEFL and IELTS preparation courses available to RAKAA students.
Speaking on the occasion, Shuhaimy briefed the visiting delegates on the university’s achievements and its academic progress. He stressed on the university’s commitment to reaching out to the community through strategic partnerships and initiatives by providing the necessary tools for secondary students to prepare for their university journeys.
Also present at the signing ceremony were Kevin Mitchell, Acting Provost and Chief Academic Officer; Mohamed El-Shahed, Director of Student Recruitment at AUS; and representatives from RAKAA.
