AUS Board of Trustees member honored

A member of the Board of Trustees of American University of Sharjah (AUS) who is also Chairman of Al Habtoor Leighton Group in Dubai, Riad T. Sadek was honored as the WEAA Distinguished Alumnus of 2015 by the Worldwide Alumni Association of the American University of Beirut (WAAAUB) at a gala dinner held under the auspices and in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development.

The award is presented to those who achieve distinction in their professional accomplishments and provided outstanding service to the university as well as significant contribution to the community. A prominent graduate of American University of Beirut, Sadek is renowned for his entrepreneurship and business leadership accomplishments. He was honored for his many contributions in the UAE, the region and the world, and for his ongoing support in Lebanon, Palestine and the UAE.

The award ceremony was attended by Abdel Salam Al Majali, the former Prime Minister of Jordan; Hamid Jafar, member of the AUS Board of Trustees, Chairman and CEO of Crescent Petroleum; Nabil Azar, President of American University of Beirut Worldwide Engineering and Architecture Alumni Chapter; as well as other distinguished guests.
