AUS congratulates UAE on winning the bid for Expo 2020

American University of Sharjah(AUS) congratulates the United Arab Emirates and Dubai for winning the bid tohost Expo 2020! An event of such magnitude is of tremendous significance notonly for the city in which it is held but also for the country and the region asa whole. As one of the premier institutions of higher learning in the Gulfregion, AUS has always placed a great deal of emphasis not only in providing aworld-class education but also in playing a dynamic role in responding to theneeds of the country.  

Every city that holds such alarge and multi-faceted event draws upon the strengths and capabilities of itsnational resources, ones that go beyond its own municipal boundaries. Over theyears, AUS has earned a reputation as a repository of talent for the countryand the region. Its 10,000 plus alumni have excelled in every field ofendeavor, from business and corporate activities to government service andinternational academia.

Along with the rest of the country's premier educational institutions, AUS willplay its due role in responding to the opportunities and challenges that arepart and parcel of such a national endeavor.

"We at AUS are excited about the prospect about the road ahead andare most optimistic about multitude of opportunities it will provide ourstudents. The exciting prospect of our institution contributing its diverseresources towards a global event will serve as a landmark in the developmentand growth of our region," said Dr. Thomas Hochstettler, AUS Acting Chancellor.

"As a special occasion to becelebrated, its ripple effects will be felt far beyond national borders," addedDr. Hochstettler.

Whether it is providing highly-trained graduates or making available sought-afterexpertise, AUS is keen to do its utmost in making this first-of-its-kind eventin the Middle East a resounding success.
