AUS hosts lecture by Sultan Sooud Al Qassemi
The College of Architecture, Art and Design (CAAD) at American University of Sharjah (AUS) hosted a lecture by Sultan Sooud Al Qassemi, a United Arab Emirates-based columnist and the founder of the Barjeel Art Foundation.
The speaker focused on the city of Sharjah and its urban landscape. Sharjah is considered to be one of the urban centers not only of the UAE, but of the region, and has started to re-position. The city today is recognized for its unique architectural style as well as its arts and culture. In his talk, Al Qassemi discussed the changing urban landscape of Sharjah, from coastal settlements in the late 19th century to major development projects in the early 21st century.
Sultan Sooud Al Qassemi is the founder of the Barjeel Art Foundation, an independent initiative established to contribute to the intellectual development of the art scene in the Arab region by building a prominent and publicly accessible art collection in the United Arab Emirates.
