AUS organizes trip for orphans
Volunteers from American University of Sharjah's (AUS) Community Services participated in a trip for orphans from Sharjah Social Services Department and Human Appeal International at Cove Rotana Hotel in Ras Al Khaimah on February 28.
The 50 orphans were divided into groups with the 19 volunteers acting as their team leaders, and they sang, danced and participated in activities through the morning.
The day ended with a lunch at the hotel restaurant, during which the orphans received gifts from the AUS volunteers and the hotel management.
"It is our aim to engage our volunteers with the different sectors of the community for them to learn the value of social work in various levels and how it contributes to strengthening the society as a whole," said Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Dean of Students. "I thank our volunteers who participated in this event and spent their time with the children on this special occasion. I am sure that the children had lots of fun and enjoyed their time away from their daily routine."
