AUS Sports Day a success
Over 300 athletes from various sport disciplines gathered in front of the Sports Complex to mark the Annual AUS Sports Day on May 1. The event was organized by the Student Athletics and Recreation Department.
The enthusiastic athletes participated in various competitions including interschool tournaments in men's and women's volleyball and basketball and men's cricket and soccer.
The College of Architecture, Art & Design (CAAD) placed first in women's basketball and ware runners up in volleyball while in the men's category, they won the volleyball competition and placed third in basketball. The School of Business and Management (SBM) won first place in women's basketball and were runners-up in volleyball. In the men's category, SBM won first place in basketball and cricket and placed third in volleyball and soccer.
The College of Arts & Science placed second in women's volleyball and third in men's cricket. The College of Engineering took the runners-up position in men's cricket, basketball, volleyball and soccer and secured third place in women's basketball.
Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, and AUS Acting Chancellor Dr. Thomas Hochstettler awarded the winners of the Intramural and Interschool tournaments in the presence of senior staff and coaches. While congratulating the athletes, Dr. Al Shehhi thanked them for their efforts and dedication throughout the year for making the sports programs successful and for their valuable achievements.
A barbeque dinner was held for all participants after the awards ceremony.
