AUS student employees named ISEP Ambassadors of the Year

Two student employees from the American University of Sharjah (AUS) International Exchange Office were selected as the 2012-2013 International Student Exchange Program (ISEP) Ambassadors of the Year. The ISEP Ambassador program provides students who have studied abroad through ISEP, the opportunity to promote international education on their campus and to help recruit study abroad participants and welcome international students to their culture.

The Ambassadors of the Year were Sonia Soares and AlMoataz Hassan who did their study abroad programs at Virginia Tech and University of Vermont respectively. They were selected for their unique strengths and shared commitment to their roles. The recipients of the award completed a year of activities which included sharing their knowledge of international study as well as welcoming incoming students to their home universities. At the end of the first and second semester, the ISEP Ambassadors submitted a log of the various events and accomplishments to compete for the ISEP Ambassador of the Year award.

According to Soares, "To be selected as one of the ISEP Ambassadors of the Year was the most stellar news I'd received all semester. At first, I couldn't believe it and was half convinced that the certificate I received was just for participation that all the participants in the program received. I was absolutely ecstatic when I heard that my colleague and I had won the award!"

Each Ambassador received a $150 gift card, a certificate and a letter of recommendation.
