AUS student to intern with EMAAR

College of Architecture, Art and Design (CAAD) student Hudda Roshan was recently announced as the winner of a special internship with real estate development company EMAAR. The internship will allow her to work side-by-side with Spanish architect and structural engineer Santiago Calatrava and his team in shaping the future of Dubai with the world’s next iconic tower.

The internship was a result of an educational field trip organized by AUS Career Services, in collaboration with EMAAR, to the Dubai Creek Harbor. Some of the top students from CAAD and the AUS College of Engineering were invited to Dubai Creek Tower’s construction site to experience the emirates’s history in the making and get a chance to intern with Emaar.

At the end of the trip, the students were presented with a challenge to manually calculate the wind load on the tower. Of the six students that submitted their solutions to Career Services, Roshan, a junior majoring in architecture, was selected by EMAAR, with her project being the closest estimation compared to the others.

Speaking about Roshan’s win, Charles Diab, Executive Director of Advancement and Alumni Affairs at AUS, said:

“The quality of AUS’ faculty members means our students develop considerable skills, while our strong partnerships with world-class companies like Emaar exposes them to a large number of opportunities. We are very pleased by our students’ success in proving how talented they are.”
