AUS students participate in BITS Model United Nations
Students from the Student Leadership Program (SLP) at American University of Sharjah (AUS) participated in the BITS Model United Nations (MUN) held at BITS Pilani, Dubai. The event helped the students learn more about diplomacy, international relations and the United Nations. Students worked on their public speaking, debating and writing skills, in addition to critical thinking, team work and building leadership abilities.
"Being part of the BITS Pilani MUN was such a great experience. It helped me to learn the mechanism behind UN meetings. Getting involved in the debate where different countries argue and make decisions about the global issues was really amazing. It will show you how the countries think and the considerations they keep in mind when they decide and vote on any specific issue," said Mohamad Hamcho, a civil engineering junior.
"Our Student Leadership Program is involved in Model United Nations locally, regionally and internationally. We allow students from various disciplines to benefit from the experience and build on their communication, negotiation and diplomacy skills," said Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Dean of Students.
