AUS women’s swimming team triumphs in home competition
The AUS women's swimming team won the overall title at the Fifth AUS Women's Intercollegiate Swimming Competition held on March 9, 2015 at the AUS Sports Complex. The final results had AUS in first place for the fifth time in a row, University of Sharjah in second place and United Arab Emirates University in third.
Organized by the Student Athletics and Recreation Department of the Office of Student Affairs, the competition included University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates University-Al Ain, Ajman University and Manipal University. The event featured five races: the 50-meter backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle and 200-meter freestyle relay.
The Leopards dominated the competitions and finished first in all of the five races. Danya Khafaga of AUS bagged first place in the 50-meter butterfly race and Angelina Demirbag won first place for the 50-meter backstroke and freestyle races. Cyndi Faber finished second in the 50-meter backstroke, Razan Al Khamis placed second in the 50-meter freestyle, and Sally Masoud won first place in the 50-meter breaststroke. The AUS team also won the 200-meter freestyle relay.
Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Dean of Students, congratulated the AUS women's swimming team and expressed her gratitude to the participating universities.
