Dr. Rashid Alleem delivers first talk in CEN Innovation Lecture Series
The College of Engineering (CEN) at American University of Sharjah (AUS) recently began its Innovation Lecture Series featuring prominent speakers who will share their experiences and furnish AUS engineering students with advice on topics related to innovation and creativity.
As part of the series, Dr. Rashid Alleem, Chairman of the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA), visited the university on February 7 to share his extensive experience in the industrial field of sustainability. Dr. Alleem spoke to more than 250 students about the endless possibilities of sustainability and efficiency and brought up ideas as to how they could be achieved.
In addition, Dr. Alleem met with AUS Chancellor Dr. Björn Kjerfve to discuss future collaboration between AUS and SEWA on areas of mutual interest, with researchers at AUS helping SEWA solve some of the issues it faces.
The Innovation Lecture series will continue until May with three more lectures by prominent international speakers scheduled which will cover areas in the mechanical, biomedical and biosciences fields. Lecturers will include Dr. Ahsan Choudhuri from the University of Texas at El Paso, Dr. Mariam Mattar from Dubai Government Authority, and Teresa Allen from University of Alberta.
