International studies student attends Global Village for Future Leaders 2015
AUS student Merna El Medany, a team leader from the AUS Student Leadership Program (SLP), attended the Global Village for Future Leaders of Business and Industry at Iacocca Institute in Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA during Summer 2015. The Global Village is a five-week intensive program on the Lehigh University campus where interns gain the opportunity to learn and live among a culturally diverse group of over 100 peers from more than 45 countries.
The Global Village is an applied leadership, management, and cross-cultural industry and training program. It is designed for experienced young professionals and advanced students who share the dream of building a career in business and industry and who want to form an active and lasting global network.
"The Global Village for business leaders is a great program that offers knowledge, experience and application of that knowledge in one place," said Merna El Medany, a junior majoring in international studies.
"Throughout the five weeks, we attended leadership and business panels with more than 70 CEOs and managers sharing their business and leadership experiences and their failures so that we can learn from them as we are the next business leaders of the world," added El Medany.
Students in the program had the option to select from a variety of business trips in Washington and New York, such as trips to the International Labour Organization, Reuters, the World Bank and organizations on Wall Street.
"The program taught students to apply leadership skills, develop entrepreneurial thought and action, and build a solid network. Also, the program focused on career path objectives and explored various environments. We are happy to hear the positive response from our student and look forward for future participation in Global Village," said Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Dean of Students.
