Orphans enjoy open day at AUS
Thirty orphans under the care of Human Appeal International, Ajman, spent an open day at American University of Sharjah (AUS), organized by the Office of Student Affairs' Community Services Office on April 28, 2014. Prior to the event, a two-week fund raising campaign was successfully held on campus to generated funds to support the event.
The day started by welcoming the orphans with a variety of activities including games, cake decorating and gifts. Representatives from Human Appeal International expressed their appreciation to the student volunteers and staff for the wonderful experience that the orphans enjoyed. The event was concluded with dinner.
Mariam Khansaheb, a student volunteer and a senior in chemical engineering said, "The open day was a wonderful experience and a good break from my academic responsibilities. The opportunity of serving the orphans was a heartwarming and rewarding experience."
"I thank the AUS community for supporting this event for orphans. Our student volunteers' support ensured yet another successful event, and I am grateful for their efforts. This event is one of our many community-related activities that promote and strengthen mutually beneficial external partnerships," said Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
The event was held in collaboration with the AUS Petroleum Engineering Club.
