OSA hosts orientation activities for new students
The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) at American University of Sharjah (AUS) welcomed new students for the spring semester with a week of orientation activities designed to help them experience a smooth transition into the AUS community, become aware of the university's extracurricular offerings and learn to adapt to university life at AUS.
The orientation activities were held February 6-11 and included information sessions, fun and intellectual games, educational and entertaining trips, and a dinner reception. More than 200 orientation packets containing informative publications on the services provided by AUS were distributed on the first day.
A group of returning active students comprised the orientation team that worked alongside the OSA staff during the orientation period. City tours to Sharjah and Dubai were held to familiarize new students with the neighboring areas and points of interest. A reception dinner was also held.
Addressing the students at the dinner, Dr. Al Shehhi said, "We are pleased to welcome you to AUS, the place we want you to consider as your second home for the coming years. The learning experience you will gain at AUS is not limited to what you learn in your academic disciplines, it extends beyond your classrooms. OSA offers you varied extracurricular opportunities that will fulfill your social, cultural, sports, leadership or volunteering interests for your personal and professional growth and development."
The dinner program included many fun games, and a cultural dance was performed by students from the Syrian Cultural Club.
