Sharjah government helps job seekers complete English program at AUS
The Achievement Academy Outreach Program at American University of Sharjah (AUS) held the third certificate ceremony for the Directorate of Human Resources, Government of Sharjah, on February 25, 2013. The participants, 82 job seekers from Kalba and Sharjah areas, completed the Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources General English Program at AUS in Spring/Summer 2012.
The Directorate of Human Resources (DHR) of the Government of Sharjah and AUS signed a Memorandum of Understanding on January 16, 2011 as part of the university's mission to engage with organizations in the emirate. The purpose of the MOU is to provide a framework of cooperation and facilitate collaboration between the institutions, on a non-exclusive basis, in areas of mutual interest. As part of this, AUS will provide English language classes at various DHR facilities throughout the emirate of Sharjah.
The job seekers completed a 60-hour program of General English at two different levels: basic and elementary. Certificates of distinction were awarded to 16 outstanding participants.
Present at the ceremony were Tariq Sultan Bin Khadim, Chairman of the Directorate of Human Resources (DHR); Ali Shuhaimy, AUS Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Management; Salem Al Qaseer, AUS Vice Chancellor for Public Affairs; Dr. Tom Alibrandi, Director of the AUS Achievement Academy; and other senior officials.
The partnership between AUS and DHR underlines the university's commitment toward professional development and augurs well for further cooperation between AUS and government entities.
