SLP students participate in Mubadala Youth Forum
Fifteen students from the Student Leadership Program (SLP) at American University of Sharjah (AUS) participated in the Mubadala Youth Forum 2015 on October 7, 2015, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC).
Themed "From College to Career," the forum was created to raise awareness about the education and career pathways available for young nationals across the UAE. The forum's panelists included renowned Emirati leaders from various backgrounds and organizations in the UAE, such as Aerospace and Engineering Services, Human Capital and Real Estate and Infrastructure at Mubadala; Emirates Defense Industries Company (EDIC); the Terrestrial Biodiversity Environment Agency; and the Tourism and Culture Authority Abu Dhabi. The forum was followed by a workshop that focused on the skills and knowledge needed for the transition from college to workplace. Participants took part in exercises highlighting critical thinking, verbal reasoning, team building, open communication and problem solving.
"The forum touched on significant skills pertaining to teamwork and leadership. It was very motivating to interact with successful Emirati leaders in various sectors and businesses. It encouraged us to work hard to leave a positive impression on our community and society," said Aljawhara Aljuwaied, a sophomore student majoring in international relations.
"It is essential for our students to take part in such forums where they learn more about their career path and potential opportunities. Interacting with experts and leaders in various fields is very important for students to better understand and prepare for the job market. It also helps the students identify and develop the skills they need most," said Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Dean of Students.
