Student project wins World Architecture Community award
A project by Uthra Varghese and Tasnim Tinawi, architecture students at the College of Architecture, Art and Design, is one of the winning entries for the 27th cycle of the international World Architecture Community Awards. The award jury and community members selected the students’ proposal for the Dubai Maritime Museum, situated on the shores of Dubai’s historic creek. The site is an active space that allows for traditional dhow-building activities. The museum pays tribute to the heritage and craft-making traditions of the United Arab Emirates.
The instructor of the project is Assistant Professor George Newlands of the Department of Architecture.
